16 PRIDE WORKPLACE Sodexo’s Pride EBRG increases awareness and understanding by educating employees, clients, partners and our publics about the issues that LGBTQ employees face at work. Pride’s mission is to support Sodexo’s LGBTQ communities and establish an accepting and respectful workplace. Céline Béland General Manager Education For me, the importance of taking part in the Pride group as an ally of the LGBTQ community stems from a need and desire to support those who were quieted and left apart due to their gender identification, expression or sexual orientation. I believe there is nothing more beautiful than being able to live one’s life as they see fit and to feel joy and love. Far too many people have been forced to suppress their identities and it’s important to let these individuals shine no matter their truth. I am an ally of the LGBTQ community who wants to learn from people’s experiences and offer all of my support to their well-being. PINK T-SHIRT DAY The Day of Pink is an International stand against bullying, discrimination, homophobia, transphobia and trans-misogyny across the world. For the occasion everyone is invited to celebrate diversity by wearing a pink shirt as an anti-bullying message. Sodexo employees followed the dress code and an art workshop was organized in order for them to create pieces aimed at stoping bullying. LGBTQ CONVERSATION GUIDE The LGBTQ Guide for managers was updated and now includes Transgender terms and issues. It provides information on general matters and the appropriate LGBTQ vocabulary as well as guidelines on how to engage the conversation and respond to different scenarios in an effort to educate and create inclusion. PRIDE MUGS As part of the Sodexo Ally campaign, the Pride group created and distributed special mugs reading «I am a Sodexo Pride ally», a way to remind everyone everyday of Sodexo’s commitment and support to the LGBTQ community.
